Is
it Fear of Success or Fear of
Failure? |
|
So many people
have talked with me about fear of success and/or fear of
failure that I decided to write this newsletter about it and
launch my “Talk with the Author” live chat discussion series
on April 6 at 7:00pm with this topic.
1. Our
fears disguise themselves in us by what we tell ourselves.
Below are few of the comments I’ve told myself in the past and
have heard entrepreneurs tell themselves that fuels fear of
success and/or failure:
·I’m not ready
·I need new brochures first
·I don’t know enough yet
·I need to finish my degree first
·I need to take another class before I…
·I need to learn more before I …
·I can’t…
While these
comments may be appropriate at times, we have to look inside
ourselves to see if what we are telling ourselves is holding
us back or helping us move forward. Below are a few comments
I’ve used and have used to help entrepreneurs deal with fear
of success and failure:
·I know everything I need to know for today.
(This one has helped me tremendously.)
·I know enough
·I don’t know enough yet
·I am ready
·I can…
2. Nike’s
“Just do it!” motto is one of the best antidotes for dealing
with and overcoming fear of success and failure. We just need
to take action – the action may be physical – such as making a
call that scares us, mental – such as changing our thought
from a negative to a positive or even spiritual – having faith
in what we are doing and believing in ourselves.
3.
Below are a few simple tips to help deal with and overcome
fear of success and/or failure:
·Be consistent – deal with your fear of success
and/or fear of failure consistently.
·Make a commitment to yourself to deal with
and overcome your fear of success and failure.
·Watch movies of people who inspire you.
·Practice making changes regularly.
·Indulge in daily success.
·Flood your mind with positive messages.
We can
overcome these fears! Remember what Johann Von Goethe once
said, “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in
it.”

What Others Are
Saying About This Book:
"No matter how
successful you were in corporate
America,
you know nothing about becoming an entrepreneur. I know
because I was the President/CEO of four companies before I
became an entrepreneur. I could have used this book."
Sigmund Goodwin Vice-President The
Radcliff Company
"How I wished
that I had had this precious and practical tool to help me in
my escape from Corporate America! After 15 years in “Fortune
50” Corporations I was convinced that the “crossing” was not
possible. Practical advice such as “what to do until the money
flows” would have greatly eased the transition for me.
Negative corporate management’s reinforcement about the “big
bad world” and not realizing that it didn’t have to be an all
or nothing transition delayed my ultimately successful escape
by years. This book will be an entrepreneurial
bible."
