The Fear Factor |
Since we will be discussing The Fear
Factor during the next Entrepreneur Hour radio show on Monday,
February 9 at noon on WBZT 1230AM, I wanted to take this
opportunity to share with you a recent experience in addressing
the topic of fear at one of my seminars and an experience I had in
feeling fear that resulted in an exercise in my book called,
Feeling your Fear.
Last week I gave a presentation about using personal power for
professional success at the SBA’s National Entrepreneurship Center
in Orlando, Florida and asked the attendees if they ever just feel
their fear, sit in the feeling and let the fearful feelings pass
through their body. Less than 2% raised their hands. I could
relate to that 2%. A few years ago I was putting together an
event. I coordinated the public relations, the speakers and all
the details. I was really excited until the morning of the event.
Fear overwhelmed me and instead of being excited about the day, I
felt scared to death. I wanted to hide. I wished it would rain –
anything but having to walk through the fear. I knew I had to be
there and there was no way around the fear anymore.
I felt paralyzed by fear so I sat down, lit a candle and for the
first time in my life, I let myself feel the scary feelings. I let
these scary feelings just pass through my body. Within five
minutes or so, the scary feelings passed and I went on with the
event. Everything went great, better than expected actually. What
I learned is that when we let ourselves just feel the fear, it
passes through us and does not hold us captive any longer.
Next time you feel afraid, find a safe place, whether it’s sitting
in your car, standing in a bathroom stall or sitting in the corner
of your room. Feel your scary feelings. Let them pass through your
body. Just try it – you have nothing to lose but fear!

Employee to Entrepreneur
prepares the most important resource for entrepreneurial
success...yourself. Suzanne's practical easy-to-follow guidelines
will transform you if you let them. What
Others Are Saying
About This Book: "No
matter how successful you were in corporate America, you know
nothing about becoming an entrepreneur. I know because I was the
President/CEO of four companies before I became an entrepreneur. I
could have used this book."
Sigmund Goodwin
Vice-President
The Radcliff Company
"How I wished that I had had this precious and practical tool to
help me in my escape from Corporate America! After 15 years in
“Fortune 50” Corporations I was convinced that the “crossing” was
not possible. Practical advice such as “what to do until the money
flows” would have greatly eased the transition for me. Negative
corporate management’s reinforcement about the “big bad world” and
not realizing that it didn’t have to be an all or nothing
transition delayed my ultimately successful escape by years. This
book will be an entrepreneurial bible."
